How To: Clean Your Makeup Brushes

No need to go out and buy professional makeup brush cleanser.  Instead, I use basic items that you can find around your house that work just as good.  You will need a few things:
1. Any type of soap that you use for washing dishes/anti-bacterial soap
2. Olive Oil/ EVOO
3. A paper plate to mix the products and cleanse the brushes
4. A plastic spoon to mix the products
5. A towel to lay the washed brushes on

Now you're going to want to do this in your bathroom since you'll need to be near a sink.  Grab your dirty brushes and let's get started!

First, take your soap and olive oil and put them separately on each side of the paper plate as shown below:

Next, take your spoon and mix the two products together:

Next, take your dirty brushes and swirl them in the mixture until the whole brush part is saturated in the soap/oil mixture:

Now using very warm water, run the brush under the water until no more color is running out of the brush.  Also, squeeze the brush under the water as well to make sure you get out all of the makeup that is stuck in the bottom of the brushes:

After you're done washing your brushes, lay them on a dry towel and let them air dry.
And there you have it; a simple way to clean your makeup brushes without actually buying a product to do it for you :)

Spring Eye-Look!

Hello all! So it's that time of year again when it starts to get a little nicer outside and the flowers are in bloom.  Well to celebrate the changing of seasons from dreary winter into beautiful spring and summer, I have come up with a gorgeous summer eye-look that brings in those beautiful pastel colors of spring and summer. Below is pictures and a list of products that I have used to create this look.

Using a flat shader brush, apply a light yellow color to the inner corner of the eyelid. I am using the 100 eyeshadow palette from ELF cosmetics (Second color in from the left, top row). Apply this color to the inner corner mostly, going towards the middle of the lid.

Next, use a teal color like this one from ELF as well (4th color from the left, 3rd color down). Apply this color with the same shader brush, other side to the middle of lid, and take this all the way to the outer corner of the lid.

Using an angled brush, take this deep purple color and apply to the outer corner and crease of the lid (4th color from the left, 2nd color from the bottom). You may have to apply this color over a few times, it all depends on your personal preference and how vibrant you want the colors to be.

Go over the teal color again with a denser crease brush and place this right below the deep purple color, keeping the blue color closer to the outer corner.

Last, apply this light green color (3rd color from the left, top row) to the middle of the eyelid. This will give a nice contrast from the light yellow to the light green to the beautiful teal color.  It will almost create a gradient effect.

I used this beautiful teal colored eyeliner for my waterline. This color is called "Sky Blue" by Palladio. To add more color to your bottom lash line, you can add the teal colored eyeshadow over the blue eyeliner to make it more vibrant. I would not recommend any top eyeliner, because this is such a colorful look and it may take away from that.

The last part of this look was the mascara. I used a combination of two mascaras to create a very full effect. First I used Maybelline's "Turbo Volum' Express" in Very Black. Over that, I used Urban Decay's Big Fatty Mascara. These two together create the perfect lashes!

Below are some pictures of the finished look.

 On my face:
-Urban Decay's Primer Potion for eyelids
-ELF's Mineral Infused Face Primer for face
-Sheer Cover Concealer in Light/Medium
-Make Up Forever Duo Mat Foundation in the shade 203
-Nars Laguna bronzer for Contouring
-ELF's Blush in Pink Passion
-Benefit's High Beam for a highlight on my cheeks
* I have no lip products on, but if I had used lip products I would have used either ELF's "Nicely Nude" or Studio Gear's "Repentance"

Hope you guys enjoyed this look, and enjoy the beautiful weather!
